The Montalcino Aortic Consortium (MAC) is guided by a collaborative governance structure designed to support scientific excellence, transparency, and international cooperation. Our leadership framework ensures that MAC’s work advances in a coordinated, ethical, and equitable way across all participating sites.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is MAC’s primary governing body. It provides strategic leadership, oversees scientific and operational priorities, and ensures that the consortium functions collaboratively across all member sites.
The Executive Committee:
- Defines MAC’s overall goals and research priorities
- Ensures high standards in data quality, ethics, and research procedures
- Facilitates strong collaboration among sites, especially where institutions may otherwise compete
- Oversees the dissemination of research findings and resources to the scientific and clinical communities
- Acts as the final decision-making body on strategic, organizational, scientific, and policy matters
- Works with partners, funders, and institutions to support the sustainability of the consortium
The Executive Committee includes:
- Executive Chair
- Scientific/Research Chair
- Clinical Chair
- Representative from GADA Canada
- Leads of designated MAC data coordinating centers

A Collaborative Framework
MAC’s governance structure reflects the consortium’s core values: collaboration, transparency, scientific excellence, and patient-centered impact.
By combining high-quality clinical data, genetic expertise, and international cooperation, MAC enables discoveries that improve the diagnosis, management, and long-term outcomes for individuals and families affected by genetic aortic disorders worldwide.
